Lymphatic drainage

Hands-on lymphatic drainage, Brazilian lymphatic massage, and body contouring to reduce swelling, de-bloat, and sculpt. Ideal after surgery, after hard training, or anytime you feel puffy, heavy, or sluggish.

What Is Lymphatic Drainage?

Your lymphatic system is your body’s drainage network. It carries excess fluid, waste, and toxins away from tissue and helps support your immune system. Unlike your blood, it has no pump. It relies on movement, breathing, and muscle contraction to keep things flowing.

When that flow slows down from surgery, injury, inactivity, travel, or inflammation, fluid builds up. That’s when you feel swollen, stiff, heavy, or puffy.

Lymphatic drainage uses specialized massage techniques to guide that fluid back toward your lymph nodes so your body can process it. Depending on your goals, your therapist can keep it gentle and therapeutic or go firmer to de-bloat and sculpt.

What Happens During a Session

  1. Intake: Your therapist reviews your health history, any recent procedures, and your goals
  2. Open the Pathways: Treatment starts near the neck and main lymph node areas to clear the way for fluid to drain
  3. Targeted Technique: Your therapist uses gentle MLD, Brazilian lymphatic massage, or contouring based on your goals
  4. Focus Areas: Extra time is spent where you need it most, like the abdomen, legs, glutes, face, or a surgical site
  5. Rest & Hydrate: Most people leave feeling lighter and deeply relaxed. Drink plenty of water afterward

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between manual lymphatic drainage and Brazilian lymphatic massage?

Manual lymphatic drainage is very gentle and focused on moving fluid, which makes it ideal after surgery. Brazilian lymphatic massage is firmer and faster, focused on de-bloating, smoothing, and shaping the body.

Does it hurt?

Manual lymphatic drainage is very light and relaxing. Brazilian lymphatic massage and cupping are firmer, but your therapist will adjust to your comfort.

How soon after surgery can I start?

It depends on your procedure and your surgeon. Many people start gentle manual lymphatic drainage within the first few days to a week. Always get your surgeon’s clearance first. Firmer sculpting techniques should wait until you’re fully healed.

How many sessions will I need?

One session can make a noticeable difference for bloating and puffiness. For post-surgical recovery or body sculpting goals, most people benefit from a series. We’ll recommend a plan based on your goals.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing. Your therapist will make sure you’re properly draped and only the area being worked on is exposed. If you’re post-op, wear your compression garment and bring it with you.

What should I do after a session?

Drink plenty of water, keep moving gently, and avoid alcohol for the rest of the day. You may need to use the restroom more than usual. That’s normal.

Is it safe for everyone?

Lymphatic massage is safe for most people, but it’s not recommended if you have an active infection or fever, blood clots or DVT, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, or active cancer without your doctor’s approval. If you have any medical condition or are pregnant, check with your doctor first.
