What is laser therapy?

Your questions answered

Laser therapy uses light energy (photons) to stimulate a series of reactions in the body that increase cell regeneration and healing. Known as photobiomodulation, the application of a concentrated infrared light beam on biological tissues increases cellular energy (ATP) for improved functionality, faster healing, better nutrient absorption and clearing of waste. Our high-powered infrared laser can penetrate as deep as seven inches into the body. The more energy your cells get, the faster they are able to repair.

Research has shown that laser therapy results in:

- Decreased inflammation (acute and chronic)

- Decreased pain

- Increased blood flow

- Increased range of motion

- Increased cellular regeneration

Other benefits are increased cellular energy and cell repair, a decrease in aging, increased gut healing and function, improved immune-system functioning, better neurotransmitter and hormone balance, along with much more.

Our laser therapy is clinically proven to address a wide range of pain conditions and soft tissue injuries, including:

  • Ankle Pain
Often caused by sprains, tendonitis, or ligament tears, ankle pain can limit mobility and daily function. Cold laser therapy helps reduce swelling and promotes healing of common injuries such as Achilles tendonitis, ankle sprains, and peroneal tendonitis.

  • Elbow Pain
Repetitive strain or sudden trauma can lead to elbow conditions like tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis), or ulnar collateral ligament injuries. Cold laser therapy aids in relieving pain and speeding up tendon and ligament repair.

  • Foot Pain
Foot pain may stem from plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, or stress fractures. Cold laser therapy can reduce inflammation and assist in healing connective tissue injuries and nerve compression syndromes such as tarsal tunnel syndrome.

  • Hip Pain
Common causes include hip bursitis, labral tears, and hip flexor strains. Cold laser therapy helps improve joint function, reduce inflammation, and accelerate recovery in both soft tissue and joint-related hip conditions.

  • Knee Pain
Knee pain is frequently due to meniscus tears, ACL/MCL sprains, patellar tendinitis (jumper’s knee), or osteoarthritis. Cold laser therapy is effective in managing swelling, pain, and tissue healing following both acute injuries and chronic degeneration.

  • Lower Back Pain
Lower back discomfort can result from lumbar strains, herniated discs, sciatica, or facet joint dysfunction. Cold laser therapy is a powerful option to ease muscle tension, promote disc and ligament healing, and reduce inflammation in the lumbar spine.

  • Neck Pain
Neck injuries may include whiplash, cervical disc herniations, muscle strains, or facet joint irritation. Cold laser therapy reduces muscle spasms, enhances circulation, and accelerates healing in neck tissues.

  • Shoulder Pain
Conditions such as rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), and shoulder impingement syndromes often cause pain and restricted movement. Cold laser therapy can reduce joint inflammation and support soft tissue regeneration.

  • Upper Back Pain
Upper back pain is often linked to muscle strains, thoracic spine dysfunction, or myofascial trigger points. Cold laser therapy aids in relaxing tight muscles and improving blood flow to affected areas, promoting faster recovery.

  • Hand Pain
Hand pain can arise from repetitive strain injuries, tendonitis, trigger finger, or carpal tunnel syndrome. Cold laser therapy helps relieve nerve compression, reduce inflammation, and accelerate tissue repair in the hand and fingers.

  • Wrist Pain
Wrist conditions like sprains, tendonitis, and De Quervain’s tenosynovitis can limit daily tasks. Cold laser therapy effectively reduces swelling and stimulates healing of tendons, ligaments, and soft tissues in the wrist area.

Hydrate! As laser therapy does not result in down time, you can incorporate it into your normal daily life and activities. It is compatible with and complements other therapies.

You can most definitely have laser therapy as soon as the day after surgery. However, we always recommend that you first consult your doctor or surgeon. Laser therapy has been shown to speed the healing of incisions and quickly normalize the surrounding tissue.

While both laser and red light therapies harness the power of light, there are key distinctions:

  • Wavelength & Power:
Our laser device operates at a patented 1275 nm wavelength, providing far deeper tissue penetration and higher energy output than red light therapy, which typically uses 630-660 nm wavelengths for more superficial applications.

  • Depth of Treatment:
    Our
laser device is the only one that reaches up to 7 inches into tissues, ideal for targeting deep muscle, joint, and ligament injuries. Red light therapy generally affects only the surface layers (about 1-2 cm depth), making it better suited for skin-related treatments.

  • Therapeutic Applications:
Laser therapy is preferred for deep tissue healing, musculoskeletal pain, and inflammatory conditions, while red light therapy is commonly used for skin rejuvenation, mild inflammation, and cosmetic treatments.
